What is a Radiologist?
A Radiologist is a doctor (MD or DO Physician) who has trained specifically to supervise and interpret medical imaging studies. The training currently for a radiologist is five years and requires at least 4 years of training in image evaluation and supervision of imaging studies. Experience is essential to the proper interpretation of your study. The specialized training of a radiologist allows him to make more precise interpretations of images than physicians who have not had such extensive training.

What is a Radiation Oncologist?
Radiation Oncologists are specially trained physicians who treat many types of cancer. Each cancer patient has a unique situation which requires tailored treatment. A radiation therapist designs and supervises the radiation treatment for each individual patient with cancer. The radiation oncologist calculates the desired dose of radiation and targets the area most likely to reduce the size and extent of the cancer tumor or tumors.
